The market town of Dolgellau lies in a beautiful valley, as it's name implies . . . "the Dale of the Hazel Groves", between the rivers Arran and Wnion, nestled at the foot of the majestic Cader Idris mountain.
Surrounding us and in close proximity are fishing lakes Cregennan, Cynwch, Gwernnan, Llyn-cynwch, Talyllyn & Trawsfynydd, all idylic locations for anglers & walkers or just simply to relax and soak up some quality time in good company . . .
'The Kings Forest' (Coed y Brenin) outdoor visitors centre is located close by, attracting bikers, hikers, families and couples, from afar. Explore the sun-dappled woodland paths and follow old miner's trails to gold and copper mines or meander along moss coated trails and watch waterfalls in the heart of the forest. For adrenalin fuelled adventure, discover your inner 'Tarzan' and swing from the tree tops with Go Ape.
Panoramic walks galore! and highly recommended are Precipice / Precipice (new), Torrent, Glyn Aran & the Mawddach Trail (centre point of National Cycle Route No. 8).
Hire a bicycle & cycle along the old railway track (pictured above), inhale the aroma of wild garlic and view the salt marsh beds along the way. Explore castles nestled on heather-laden cliff paths.
